Past progressive:
We use it when the subject was in the middle of an action.
It is used also to show background of a past story or news.
We use it when a shorter past action (past simply) comes in
that middle of a longer past action (past Progressive).
Construction: subject + was/were + verb 1st form
+ ing + object
- It was raining when I woke up.
- I saw him while he was watering plants.
- She was cooking us. Her children come home.
- Children were playing at the ground.
- Children were not playing at the ground.
- Were children playing at the ground?
